HOW TO CURE A CAROB MATE
First of all, what is Carob?
Prosopis alba is a plant belonging to the Leguminosae family, native to South America. Commonly known as algarrobo blanco or algarrobo dulce, it is a tree that can reach considerable heights. The leaves are small, compound and light green in color. The plant is known for its hardiness and adaptability to arid climates, and is often used for wood production and providing food for livestock.
But how do you take care of a Mate of this type?
It's very simple, just follow this procedure:
- Remove the used yerba from a mate as soon as you're done drinking and place it on paper towels for about 10 minutes.
- Place the moist yerba in the mate to be cured.
- Let it rest for 24 hours without ever adding water.
- After 24 hours, remove the yerba with a spoon and clean the inside of the mate with a damp cloth.
IMPORTANT : Do not spread with butter or oil.
Once the process is finished, our MATE is ready to be used!
